Today, we talked about parallelograms. We determined what the formula was for the area of a parallelogram.
Remember that it is height multiplied by the base, not the base multiplied by the other edge!

In our latest unit, we have been exploring circles. We have examined their radii, diameters, and circumferences.
Last week, we discovered pi by measuring diameters and circumferences of various circular objects. This helped us to learn how to calculate circumference.
Today we discovered the formula for the area of a circle. We divided a circle into ever smaller triangles and rearranged then into a rectangle. Collaboratively, we then determined what the area of a circle must be. I have posted a video below to demonstrate what we did.
