Steps

Step 1:
You need to pick your topic (ie. the person) from the list and then research them. You are to use at least 3 sources, although more are encouraged. I suggest you start at biography.com. Most, but not all, of the people on the list have a video or article there. Beyond that, you need to find at least 2 more sources. These can we websites or books.

Take notes on a lined piece of paper, with the source information at the top. Remember, when we take notes we do not copy parts of the articles word for word. That can lead to plagiarism. You should have separate jot-notes for each source.

As you read and take notes, ensure that you are getting all of the needed information to answer the questions and subject areas above.

Step 2:
Next, you will group the information together on the appropriate paragraph-planning templates (provided). That is, you will write the information that will go in the introduction on the Plan the Introduction sheet, for example.

Step 3:
Next, you will write your rough draft of the biography. This includes your Works Cited / Sources page.

Step 4:
You and a friend/family member will edit your work and use the checklist (provided) to ensure you have everything you need included.

Step 5:
You will produce a typed final copy of the assignment. Remember, you need to proofread and make any needed changes before handing it in.
