Monochromatic ColoursĀ

Today in art we will begin by learning how to make tints and shades of colours. We will make 3 different swatches. Here is a video to help us do that.
Once we have mastered that skill, we will be creating some monochromatic paintings. Picasso made many monochromatic paintings. These are paintings that just use shades and tints of one colour. The colours chosen create moods. For example, blue is a cool colour and creates a sombre or even depressing mood. Here are two examples.
We will be doing two monochromatic paintings. The first will be an abstract painting, like these below. Remember: you will be mixing your own paints!
