Today we were looking at contour lines and working with lines as an element of art generally.
Contour drawing, is an artistic technique used in the field of art in which the artist sketches the contour of a subject by drawing lines that result in a drawing that is essentially an outline; the French word contour meaning, “outline” (Wikipedia).
Students had to do 6 contour drawing of their hands and then use line to give them some detail. The hand constituted the positive space. The students then had to fill the negative space with a lined pattern.
